Editions Ateliers Art de France

Éditions Ateliers d’Art de France

We publish magazines and books devoted to craft: monographs by designers, art books, essays, guides, technical and educational works.

The Editions Ateliers d’Art de France has as a mission to develop the recognition of the role of the fine craft workers in our society. They seek to share a perspective of fine crafts through the publication of art books, essays, technical books and through the two magazines: Ateliers d'Art and La Revue de la céramique et du verre.

Ateliers d’Art

Ateliers d’Art is the only French-speaking magazine fully dedicated to contemporary fine crafts. It reveals the talent and the imagination of fine craft workers and artists who both transform and exalt the materials they use. Through its debates, Ateliers d’Art also examines the multiple stakes surrounding this unique field.

La Revue de la céramique et du verre

By its cultural approach to art and technique, La Revue de la céramique et du verre bears witness, from an open perspective, to the evolution of contemporary design in the glass and ceramic arts, both in France and abroad.

Atelier Pierre Culot

"Pierre used to say to his collaborators that the earth had a memory", Pascal Slootmakers

Pierre Culot (1938-2011) was a ceramicist and sculptor. Passed by the Art School of the Abbey of Maredsous, he was trained in contact with the greatest ceramicists of the post-war period.
Sculpture took on more importance in his work from the 1970s.

Pierre Culot will obtain several international prizes as a ceramist. However, he avoided locking himself into a single discipline, opening up to sculpture, which became increasingly important throughout his career. The artist was awarded the Young Belgian Sculpture Prize in 1973. A landscaper, he has also to his credit the creation of private gardens and installations in public spaces.

Considered one of the greatest European ceramicists of the post-war period, Culot created work that thoughtfully lived on the verge of art and functionality. Sculpture took on more importance in his work from the 1970s and his art has been shown at Stedelijk Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum and Palais de Tokyo.

Located a 45-minute drive from Brussels, the studio of artist Pierre Culot (1938-2011) is open by appointment, and for artists-in-residence.
